Rainforest FAQ's

  • 1. I still have codes for Tropicana Rescue the Rainforest; how do I redeem them?

You can enter the 11-digit codes for Rescue the Rainforest at www.tropicanarainforest.com (include link to "My Account" page on this site) until March 31, 2010.

If you have a 10-digit Tropicana Juicy Rewards code, you may use that code and donate points to help Rescue the Rainforest as part of Tropicana Juicy Reward. Please click on the link at the right side of the navigation bar at the top of this page to get to the donation page.

  • 2. Is this the same Rescue the Rainforest promotion from 2009?

No, Rescue the Rainforest is changing to become part of our Tropicana Juicy Rewards promotion in 2010. You can still help Tropicana and Cool Earth to save the rainforest by donating points you collect when you enter codes found on or under the cap of specially-marked Tropicana packages through November 15, 2010.

Our partnership with Cool Earth and our "Rescue the Rainforest" campaign is one step in our ongoing journey to help preserve the natural environment for generations to come. Learn more about our sustainability initiatives at:

  • 3. What has changed about the program for 2010 as part of the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program?

The main difference between 2009’s program and 2010’s Rescue the Rainforest as part of Tropicana Juicy Rewards is that you can save different amounts of rainforest with different sizes of Tropicana.

Each size of specially-marked Tropicana or Trop50 products displays a point equivalent. Each point donated saves 33⅓ square feet of rainforest. As in 2009, one (1) 64oz. carton of Tropicana Pure Premium saves 100 square feet of rainforest.

  • 4. What varieties are still included in the promotion?

Any specially-marked Tropicana package advertising the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program is a participating product. Some notable changes from our 2009 program:

  • 5. Will the codes from the 2009 Rescue the Rainforest program work with the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program?

Unfortunately, no but, if you have a package that is specially marked with the Rescue the Rainforest logo and copy, you can enter your code at TropicanaRainforest.com through 3/31/10.

These codes will not be accepted within Tropicana Juicy Rewards Program.

  • 6. Can I donate my current Tropicana Juicy Rewards code and/or points within my Rescue the Rainforest account at TropicanaRainforest.com?

If you have a package that is specially-marked with the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program, you will not be able to enter this at TropicanaRainforest.com.

You will need to create a new Tropicana Juicy Rewards account at Tropicana.com to help save the rainforest using the points you get from the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program.

  • 7. When does the program end?

As part of the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program, our Rescue the Rainforest project 2010 ends on November 15, 2010.

  • 8. Is there still a Rescue the Rainforest team option?

The team option within 2009’s Rescue the Rainforest is not available within the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program.

  • 9. Who is Cool Earth?

Cool Earth is an organization that is super-charging everyone's efforts to halt climate change[1]. Cool Earth helps to protect the world's most endangered pieces of rainforest, and, in doing so, combats global warming, protects ecosystems and provides sustainable jobs for local people.

Rainforest destruction is a considerable contributor to climate change. The simple idea behind Cool Earth is that rainforests are worth much more to the human race left standing, helping to cool the planet, than they are cut down for timber or if burned to clear land for cattle ranching.

  • 10. Do I own the land I save?

No, your participation allows us to donate money to Cool Earth, who sponsors and protects it for a minimum of 10 years.

Tropicana and Cool Earth will be working with the Ashaninka, one of the largest surviving Amazon ethnic groups, to protect an area of rainforest in Peru.

Sponsoring the protection of a piece of rainforest means Cool Earth and its partner Ecotribal can work with the Ashaninka to secure rainforest and all of the environmental services that the forest provides.

  • 11. Why not replant forest that's already been destroyed?

Restoration is an important long-term strategy but does not have the immediate carbon impact of conserving endangered mature forest. If land we are protecting has degraded forest in it, we replant it with native species.

  • 12. The forest is huge — how do you guarantee protection?

Cool Earth is able to help the Ashaninka protect the rainforest by working with local partners and NGOs, in particular Ecotribal, to maximize our impact. Ecotribal is an NGO working in Peru to support rainforest people and their forests.

Most important of all, wherever it is possible, Cool Earth forms partnerships with local people and communities who can earn a living from the forest resources without chopping them down.

This ensures the traditional custodians of the rainforest are being properly rewarded for the essential benefits that their forest provides for the entire globe.

  • 13. Won't protecting rainforest in one place just mean loggers go somewhere else?

Generally not. Much of the logging in South America is done speculatively, where land ownership is unclear and no one else is making a claim.

Perhaps most surprising, it is not particularly profitable, and where better economic alternatives exist, tends not to persist.

Furthermore, by working with government and importers to ensure tighter controls on sourcing unsustainable timber, Cool Earth and the Ashaninka are helping to tackle rainforest destruction at both ends of the supply chain.
